The illeist collective doesn’t see itself as a classic band but rather as a collective that incorporates numerous artists. The core of the collective is made up of Silas Bieri (Keyboards, Vocals), Miro Rutscho (Bass) and René Flückiger (Drums). Although the illeist collective is a new formation, the musicians involved are anything but strangers to the music scene. The collective is mainly the result of a continuous and mutual musical socialisation within the (formerly existing) electro-rock band dream pilot. The music lies somewhere between progressive drum’n’bass and soul flavoured trip-hop, gets its inspiration from Miles Davis’ bebop-jazz and is reminiscent of the eclectic sound spheres of Herbie Hancock. Through the analogical instrumentation the music has a unique organic vibe despite its electronic colouring. So it can’t come as a surprise that the sound of this formation is very difficult to categorize in terms of common genres. The music of the illeist collective works within the genuine setting of a jazz club, as well as within the sweaty stroboscope atmosphere of an electro party. The multilayered music fuses with the light and video installations of Pablo Weber to create an exciting live performance. What is more, the collective is supported by numerous talented artists, on stage as well as on record. On this note – feel free to turn up the volume and dance a little.
